A propos du centre
The safety and comfort of our divers are at the heart of every one of our trips. For every diving activity we organise in Saint-Leu, on the west coast of Réunion, we carefully assess sea conditions to ensure an enjoyable and safe experience. Thanks to the generally favourable climate in Saint-Leu, scuba diving can be enjoyed all year round. However, when sea conditions do not allow for a safe trip, certain activities may be adapted. For example, a trip may go ahead for experienced divers but be cancelled for beginners, or exceptionally cancelled for all participants. In this case, our team will contact you to offer to reschedule your diving activity for a later date. If no suitable slot can be found, the service will of course be fully refunded. It is also important to note that the weather on land is not always indicative of conditions at sea. Showers or moderate winds do not generally prevent diving. However, heavy swell, strong winds or significant currents may lead us to postpone or cancel a trip in order to ensure everyone’s safety.
Do you want to go scuba diving while your friends prefer to stay on the surface for snorkeling? Or are you a certified diver while your friends want to try scuba diving for the first time?No problem! If you register as a group, we will always do our best to ensure that you can participate in the same sea trip, even if you are registered for different activities. If all members of your group have already completed at least one introductory dive, but some are not yet certified, you might also consider the SSI Basic Diver course . This option often allows you to dive together while remaining supervised by an instructor.
The issue of sharks in Réunion often comes up among visitors to the island. In practice, shark sightings at dive sites in Saint-Leu are extremely rare, and virtually non-existent in the vast majority of dives organised by local clubs. For many years, thousands of dives have been carried out each season by professional centres on the island’s west coast. There have been no shark attacks on equipped divers at these dive sites, which are well-frequented and well-known to the instructors. The trips organised by our dive centre take place at sites selected for their favourable conditions, marine biodiversity and safety. The instructors know these areas inside out and choose sites suited to the conditions of the day to ensure a peaceful experience for divers. In short, scuba diving in Saint-Leu is an activity practised daily by both novice and experienced divers, in a supervised and safe environment.
Yes, in some cases. On our diving trips in Saint-Leu, it is sometimes possible for non-diving companions to board the boat without taking part in the activity. This depends mainly on the number of places available and on ensuring that the presence of non-diving companions does not take up space intended for registered divers.Where possible, accompanying guests are welcome free of charge. A buoyancy aid is provided to ensure their comfort and safety on board; it also serves as a life jacket. For safety reasons, accompanying persons are asked to remain on board the boat for the duration of the dives. However, in the event of rough seas off the coast of Saint-Leu, instructors may advise against accompanying persons boarding. Waiting on the surface can indeed be a long and sometimes uncomfortable experience when the sea is rough.
Our diving trips to Saint-Leu, on the West coast of Reunion Island, take place every day with two meeting times at the port: at 8 a.m. and at 1 p.m.The total duration of a dive trip depends on several factors, such as the chosen dive site, the number of divers on board, and sea conditions. On average, however, you should allow approximately 3 hours between the meeting point and the return to port .At the end of the dive, participants can return directly from the port if they wish. We also invite them to come back to the dive center to share their observations of the day, discuss the marine life encountered, have a coffee, or enjoy a well-deserved hot shower after diving .The immersion time varies depending on the activity chosen. Introductory dives last a minimum of 20 minutes, initiations and snorkeling at least 45 minutes, and explorations and training courses up to 1 hour.
Yes. Thanks to Reunion Island's tropical climate, diving is possible all year round. The water temperature generally varies between 23°C and 28°C , and conditions are often particularly favorable on the west coast, especially around Saint-Leu.
Yes… but no monitor can ever guarantee that. The diving takes place in a particularly rich natural environment around Reunion Island, where encounters with marine fauna are as numerous as they are unpredictable.Sea turtles are regularly the subject of wonderful sightings during dives around Saint-Leu, but these encounters remain, of course, completely wild and unpredictable. Each dive is therefore a different discovery.
It is possible to dive all year round in Réunion. Conditions are generally favourable, with water temperatures ranging from around 23 °C in the southern winter to 28 °C in the summer. The period from April to November is often favoured for its good underwater visibility. From July to October, it is also possible to spot humpback whales during boat trips. The southern summer (December to March) offers warmer water and very active marine life, although the weather can sometimes be more changeable. Thanks to the many sites accessible from Saint-Leu, every season offers wonderful dives and different encounters with marine wildlife.
We offer both types of wetsuits all year round (3mm shorties and 5mm full-length wetsuits, plus hoods if required), depending on the season or the diver’s preference.
